Fall has Arrived and Brings Some Wonderful Riding Weather!!
Expect cooler mornings and evenings with pleasant temps during the day. We may still experience some "Indian Summer" days along the way. Come see us for some layering techniques to keep you warm in cool times while allowing you to remain cool when the day warms up.
The NJ River Path remains in excellent shape (no flood damage so far this year!) and the leaves will be in full foliage before you know it. The colors are spectacular, and once the leaves drop, the path takes on a completely different character. Come down for a bike ride, or rent one of ours to explore the sights. The local Bike Club rides are still plentiful. What are you waiting for? See some our ride possibilities on our "Rides" page. Check out the local Bike Club links there as well.
The recent spike in gas prices quickly changed the landscape throughout the cycling industry. Bike and related accessory demand increased more than manufacturers initially expected during 2008. Product sold out quickly and restocking items was difficult towards the early summer. Bike Commuting items were, and still are, particularly difficult to obtain.
As the new 2009 product become available, expect a 15-25% price increase. This will be seen across all major manufacturers of bikes and accessories. All consumers will experience "sticker shock" as bike shops restock at higher costs. If you're looking for a new bike, search for any available 2008 models that may meet your needs, or prepare to accept increased prices for similar items.
We've restocked as much as we could at the lower 2008 prices. As these items are sold and replaced, pricing will reflect our higher 2009 costs. Come by and see us sooner rather than later. We offer a full line of bikes, parts, and accessory items to satisfy your cycling needs.
New Bikes
We carry a dazzling array of Giant, Electra, DK and Van Dessel bikes for all levels of interest. Whether you're seeking comfort and recreational bikes, mountain bikes, road bikes, BMX or high-end racing models, we've got you covered.
Rentals
If you're in town on holiday and need a bike to explore the Path along the river, or want to venture inland, we have a new fleet of Giant Sport/Comfort bikes available by the hour, the day, or even the week.
We sell off our new rental fleet after each season. Our current 2008 $340 MSRP Sedonas are available for $250 (slightly used, with some "battle scars"). They are used for the 2008 rental season, cleaned & detailed, then released around mid/end-November. The claims period starts after Labor Day: a $50 deposit (or full payment) holds the bike of your choice (size, gender & color) until we are through the rental season. These units come with Giant's full Warranty, as if sold as new. They also come with our Lifetime Free Adjustment benefit. These bikes go quick when available, so give us a call or stop by.
For 2008, we have replaced all our courtesy rental helmets with brand-new models. Also look out for two new additions to our rental bicycle fleet: a men's and a women's Townie by Electra Bicycles.
Repairs
Our knowledgeable staff can get your bike in working order, whether you just need a flat fixed, a seasonal tune-up, or a major overhaul. No matter where you bought it, we can fix it.
Bicycle Restoration
Do you have a Vintage Bike? A Classic Bike? A Collectible Bike? A bike with strong Sentimental Value? We can restore it to its best possible condition. While we do not perform repainting or re-chroming, we can debride, clean and restore your ride to uncover its hidden beauty. Stop by and see our vintage 1973 Schwinn Apple Krate that underwent 60 hours of cleaning, detailing, and polishing. Restoration work is usually performed during the winter months when we have larger blocks of time to dedicate to this delicate process. Give us a call to schedule an evaluation and assessment of your bike, its needs, as well as your ultimate goals.
Gear
Helmets...clothing...gloves...pumps...lights...accessories. We've got everything you need so you can be outfitted from head to toe & wheel to wheel. Ride with safety in mind, but look good and feel good doing it!
